The 38th Annual Black Excellence Awards/Louvenia Johnson Scholarship Fund

John Daniels, III is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin who gained his educational experiences in the Milwaukee Public Schools’ (MPS) system, Marquette University High School, and then moved on to the University of Michigan. His areas of focus included business management and music production. He then returned to Milwaukee to contribute to the community in which he was raised.

John has been a teacher and key leader in information technology for the Holy Redeemer Educational campus – supporting the C.H. Mason Clinic, Daniels-Mardak Boys & Girls Club, as well as the elementary and high schools. His innovation, commitment and skills provide unique contributions to the expanding vision of the Wisconsin First Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) under the leadership of Bishop Sedgwick Daniels. John is further pursuing his education by workings towards a masters degree of organizational leadership at Marian University, In Fond du Lac. He currently serves in the Wisconsin First Jurisdiction, leading the growing ministry at Old Mt Zion New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C. on the east side of Milwaukee. This ministry is an East campus of Holy Redeemer in a very diverse area, budding with opportunity, and reaching out to young professionals and college students.

With a heart for seeing young people flourish, he started a mentoring program called Administering Life In Vocational Experiences (A.L.I.V.E.). The program offers exciting and inspiring interactions for youth to work with professionals in diverse career fields, to help their own personal aspirations come alive. Grounded in biblical principles, he builds bridges for youth to explore the opportunities God has for them.

A.L.I.V.E. also collaborates with the Greater Milwaukee Committee (GMC) on the growing MKE Fellows program, which exposes young talent to local business leaders and internship experiences to complement their academic pursuits. The aim is to build a networking community that will embrace, develop and retain its own sharp talent. With a passion for his community, John also serves as Director of Operations for OneMke, whose mission is to transform leadership and relationships across the diverse pipeline of talent in the city of Milwaukee.

These commitments reflect the legacy he desires to leave and the impact to make upon his community, especially his namesake, son John Daniels, IV.
